What happened

edie has launched Countdown to COP31, a digital editorial and events programme ahead of the UN climate conference in Antalya, Türkiye. COP31 is scheduled to run at Antalya EXPO Center from 9 to 20 November 2026, with a World Leaders’ Summit planned for 11 and 12 November.

The programme includes Action Tracker updates for edie members, email newsletters edited by Matt Mace, contributed articles, news coverage, features, podcasts and online events. The publisher says it will begin daily short-form COP31 news episodes in November, including headlines, reactions and interviews, although its team will not attend the summit in person.

Why it matters

COP31 will bring policymakers, negotiators, businesses, investors, civil-society groups and climate advocates to Türkiye. The conference is expected to address implementation of climate commitments and investment, making its negotiations and announcements relevant to businesses tracking energy transition, climate finance, resilient infrastructure, circularity and supply chains.

The incoming presidency has identified priorities including electrification, green industrial change, sustainable food systems, zero waste and resilience. edie’s coverage programme will follow these areas and the issues expected to shape the business agenda.

Background

COP31 is the 31st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. It will also host the eighth meeting of parties to the Paris Agreement and begin the second Global Stocktake.

The programme will also cover developments from the biodiversity summit, CBD COP17, in Armenia, as COP31 seeks closer coordination across the three Rio Conventions.

What's next

Countdown to COP31 content will run in the lead-up to the Antalya meeting. Daily COP31 briefings are due to start in November, when the summit opens on 9 November 2026.
