This page explains how Net Zero treats the sources it reports from: why we write in our own words, when we credit other outlets, and what to do if you spot an error or want content reviewed or taken down.
We write in our own words
Net Zero is a reporting product, not a link blog. Every item is written in our own sentences. Facts — numbers, dates, decisions, events — belong to everyone; another publisher's expression belongs to them. We do not copy other publishers' text, mirror their sentence structure, or use their images. Before publication, every draft passes an automated originality check that mechanically compares it against the gathered source texts.
Primary documents first
Most sustainability news originates in public primary material: company announcements, official gazettes, regulator publications, programme pages and reports. We report facts from those documents and link them directly in the Primary documents block at the foot of an item — rather than linking the outlet that got there first.
When we credit other outlets
When a story exists only because of another newsroom's original work — an exclusive, an interview, an investigation, or data and surveys they own — we say so clearly: the item carries a "First reported by {outlet}" card linking to their reporting. Quotes are always attributed in the text itself, naming the speaker and where the statement was made.
What we never do
- Present another outlet's exclusive as our own discovery,
- Republish another publisher's text or images,
- Publish a paraphrase so close that the source text shows through.
Requesting a correction
If you believe an item contains an error — a wrong number, date or name, or missing context — please write to the contact address below. We review requests promptly, correct the item where warranted, and note material corrections on the page. For critical details such as application deadlines, always verify on the official page; we are not the application body.
For publishers: attribution and takedown requests
If you are a publisher and believe an item reproduces your expression, fails to credit your original reporting, or should be removed, contact us. We review every request in good faith and will correct the attribution, rewrite the item, or remove it where the request is justified. All takedown requests are logged.
