What happened

Türkiye’s Public Oversight Authority (KGK) has issued guidance on two board decisions covering exemptions from sustainability reporting requirements for the 2026 reporting period. Decisions numbered 46753 and 46754 took effect after publication in the Official Gazette on 22 October 2026.

Under Decision 46753, no business is required to release its 2026 sustainability disclosures at the same time as its financial statements.

Businesses that are required to produce second-quarter or half-yearly interim general-purpose financial reports can release their sustainability reports together with those reports. Companies that submit such interim reports voluntarily must publish the sustainability report alongside them. Businesses that do not submit either mandatory or voluntary interim general-purpose financial reports can file their sustainability report no later than nine months after the end of the 2026 reporting period.

KGK also said that, where TSRS 1 is applied only to the extent set by TSRS 2 in 2026, businesses using that exemption will not have to provide comparative information on sustainability risks and opportunities other than climate matters for the 2027 reporting period.

Why it matters

The decisions change the reporting timetable for businesses subject to Türkiye’s sustainability disclosure framework. Companies should establish whether they issue interim financial reports, because that determines the applicable filing route and timing.

For banks and non-bank financial institutions, Decision 46754 ends the voluntary reporting exemption linked to employee numbers or branch numbers from the 2026 reporting period. Affected financial institutions will need to reassess their reporting obligations.

What’s next

The decisions apply to the 2026 reporting period. Businesses relying on the route without interim general-purpose financial reports must submit their sustainability reports within nine months of the reporting period’s end.
