What happened

The European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) plan to convene an EU Youth Policy Dialogue on COP31 on 1 October 2026. The European Youth Forum and Generation Climate Europe are cooperating on the event.

Commissioner for Climate, Net-Zero and Clean Growth Wopke Hoekstra will host the discussion. It will bring together youth organisations and representatives from across Europe to exchange views on climate-policy priorities before COP31.

Why it matters

The dialogue is intended to feed youth perspectives into the EU's international climate work and its role in global negotiations. For organisations in Türkiye, COP31's planned location in Antalya makes the EU's preparations relevant to the country's climate-policy and stakeholder engagement agenda.

What's next

Some attendees will be chosen through an open call for representatives of local or national youth organisations. The application period runs until 30 June. COP31 is scheduled for November 2026 in Antalya, Türkiye.
