What happened
Türkiye’s Energy and Natural Resources Ministry has announced the dates and applicants for its 2026 Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA) tenders. The wind auction will take place on 2 November 2026, followed by the solar auction on 3 November 2026.
The YEKA RES-2026 wind process will allocate 1,500 MWe in seven areas. Twelve legal entities submitted 29 applications. The YEKA GES-2026 solar process covers 900 MWe in 14 areas and received 44 applications from 19 legal entities.
Five companies applied to both tenders, leaving 26 distinct legal entities across the two competitions. No applications were received for the 40 MWe G26-Malatya-2, 30 MWe G26-Mardin-1 and 45 MWe G26-Kahramanmaraş-1 solar areas.
Why it matters
The tenders offer successful bidders an initial right to sell electricity on the open market, followed by a 20-year purchase guarantee. Wind investors may sell on the market for 72 months from contract signing, while solar investors will have a 60-month period. The 20-year guaranteed-purchase term begins after those periods.
The auctions will use descending bidding and a contribution-payment commitment. Initial sealed bids for both technologies will be capped at 5.50 euro cents per kilowatt-hour. The minimum price is 3.50 euro cents/kWh for wind and 3.25 euro cents/kWh for solar.
What's next
The wind competition is scheduled for 2 November 2026 and the solar competition for 3 November 2026. Bidders will compete for capacity rights under the announced price limits and market-sales arrangements.
