What happened

Acıbadem Sağlık Hizmetleri ve Ticaret has proposed increasing the size of its solar development in the Odunpazarı district of Eskişehir. The project is located within the boundaries of Karapazar and Avdan neighbourhoods.

The proposal would lift generating capacity from 90 MWm, 90 MWp and 62.64 MWe to 100.006 MWm, 100.006 MWp and 73 MWe. It would also enlarge the environmental assessment area from 84.07 hectares to 95.61 hectares. Enerji Günlüğü reported that the investment is valued at TRY 250 million.

The expanded facility is designed for annual electricity production of up to 155 million kWh. Its output is planned to reach the national grid via the existing 19.93 km, 154 kV transmission line linking the Acıbadem Eskişehir solar facility with the Eskişehir Organised Industrial Zone substation.

The earlier 62.64 MWe version of the project had received an environmental permit. The latest plan concerns a larger plant and a larger assessment area, rather than a confirmed operating expansion.

Why it matters

Acıbadem intends to use the electricity produced by the plant to offset its own power consumption under Türkiye’s unlicensed electricity generation rules. The company has said the project is intended to help meet hospital electricity demand from cleaner sources.

The proposal illustrates how a large electricity consumer can pair a remote renewable asset with its own demand while using the transmission network to deliver generation to the national system. For corporate energy teams, the relevant feature is the consumption-offset structure: generation from the project would be reconciled against the company’s electricity use rather than described as a standalone merchant power project.

Readers tracking corporate renewable procurement in Türkiye should distinguish the proposed 73 MWe capacity from the already permitted 62.64 MWe project. The reported figures also indicate that the capacity increase is accompanied by additional land within the environmental assessment boundary.
