What happened
Biçer ATY Geri Dönüşüm Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. is proposing a waste-processing and recovery complex in Gürle, within Yunusemre district in Manisa. According to Enerji Günlüğü, the development is valued at TL70 million and is planned for an area of about 13,000 square metres.
The proposed site would cover treatment and recovery activities for hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Its scope includes pre-processing, chemical-waste preparation, sludge drying, tanker washing, electrical and electronic equipment recovery, packaging-waste sorting, preparation for reuse, and temporary storage for waste and batteries.
A 30,000-tonne annual line for producing refuse-derived fuel is included in the plans. Other stated annual capacities are 10,000 tonnes for hazardous and non-hazardous waste pre-processing, 15,000 tonnes for chemical-waste pre-processing, 20,000 tonnes for sludge drying, 35,000 tonnes for non-hazardous waste recovery and 15,000 tonnes for hazardous waste recovery.
The project documents cited by the publication also list capacity of 60,000 tonnes a year for scrap metal and end-of-life vehicle treatment. Electrical and electronic waste recovery is set out at 12,000 tonnes, while preparation for reuse and packaging-waste recovery are each listed at 20,000 tonnes. Packaging-waste collection and sorting would have capacity of 36,000 tonnes annually.
Why it matters
If developed, the facility would add planned handling capacity in Manisa for a broad set of industrial waste streams, including chemical, electronic, packaging and vehicle-related materials. The proposed fuel-preparation operation is also a distinct part of the scheme, alongside recovery and treatment activities.

Planned supporting operations
In addition to the main treatment lines, the proposal specifies annual capacity of 16,000 tonnes for tanker cleaning. Temporary storage is listed at 1,500 tonnes per year for waste and a further 1,500 tonnes for batteries. These figures describe the individual activities planned for the site rather than a single overall throughput total.
