What happened
Nordex Group has received an order from Austrian citizen-participation company WEB Windenergie AG for the Auersthal RI repowering project in Gänserndorf, Lower Austria. The supplier is to deliver and install eight N175/6.X wind turbines with aggregate capacity of 56 MW.
Each machine has a 7 MW rating and belongs to Nordex’s Delta4000 platform. The contract also provides for a 25-year Premium Service agreement. Nordex expects the turbines to be commissioned in 2028.
The scheme involves replacing the turbines already operating at the location with newer equipment. It will be the first deployment of the N175/6.X turbine in Austria, according to the reported announcement. With eight machines, it is also described as Nordex’s largest single Austrian project by turbine count.
For developers, suppliers and service providers tracking Austria’s wind market, the immediate point is to follow the project through delivery, installation and its planned 2028 start of operations.
Why it matters
Auersthal RI illustrates the role of repowering in adding modern turbine technology to an operating wind site. Nordex said the new generation of equipment is intended to improve wind-energy efficiency at the site and make better use of the available land.
The order combines equipment supply, installation and a long-duration maintenance commitment. That gives the project a 56 MW turbine procurement scope alongside service coverage extending for 25 years.
The first Austrian use of the N175/6.X is a notable element of the contract. The model’s 7 MW unit rating means the eight-turbine installation reaches the stated 56 MW total without increasing the number of machines beyond eight.
