What happened

Türkiye has revised two measures covering household tumble dryers: the energy-labelling communiqué SGM-2026/10 and the ecodesign communiqué SGM-2026/9. According to Enerji Günlüğü, both entered into force on 16 October 2026.

The labelling change requires suppliers to use a new label for each household tumble dryer placed on the market from 1 January 2027. The format includes a pictogram showing the appliance’s repairability class, on a scale running from A to E.

Suppliers must also make the updated product-information sheet available, either by entering it in a database or publishing it on their own website. Existing labels and product-information sheets may continue to be used until 31 December 2026, and suppliers can move to the updated format before then.

Why it matters

The repairability classification adds a further item to the product information that suppliers must prepare for the Turkish market. Manufacturers and importers should review label artwork, supporting documentation and the route used to make product sheets available before the 2027 deadline.

The accompanying ecodesign revision changes definitions and measurement provisions used for dryer declarations. It specifies use of the eco programme for testing energy consumption, condensation efficiency and programme duration, with those parameters measured simultaneously.

For weighted results, the methodology uses three drying cycles at full load and four at partial load. Businesses should therefore check whether their test data and technical files reflect the revised approach.

Updated technical provisions

The ecodesign amendment revises the meaning of standby and off modes. It also adds or updates terms concerning average final moisture content, reactivation functions, information or status displays, active mode, main functions and tools used in repair.

The definition of a professional repairer is also updated. The measure draws on EU Regulation 2025/2262, Enerji Günlüğü reported.

What suppliers should do next

  • Confirm which household tumble dryers will be placed on the Turkish market from 1 January 2027.
  • Prepare labels carrying the applicable A–E repairability classification.
  • Update product-information sheets and arrange database entry or website publication.
  • Review testing and declared values against the eco-programme measurement requirements.
