What happened

Türkiye's wind energy sector has added 4.52 GW of capacity to its construction pipeline, bringing total installed mechanical capacity to 16.23 GW as of mid-2026, according to the Turkey Wind Energy Association's statistical report for the second half of 2026. The first half of the year saw 297 MW added to operating capacity.

Five developers are driving the construction phase. Energisa Enerji Üretim leads with 1.046 GW under development, followed by RT Enerji (616 MW), Türkerler (525.6 MW), Efor Holding (351.4 MW) and Yıldızlar Holding (232 MW). These projects represent a significant expansion of Türkiye's low-carbon generation infrastructure.

Four turbine manufacturers will supply equipment for these projects. Nordex holds the largest share at 2.68 GW, with Goldwind at 953 MW, Enercon at 651 MW and Envision at 232 MW. The concentration of supply among these four vendors reflects market consolidation in the domestic wind sector.

Wind energy's contribution to Türkiye's electricity supply reached 13.52% in the comparable 2025 period, a gain of 1.3 percentage points year-on-year, reflecting accelerating renewable capacity deployment. The pipeline of 4.5 GW under construction signals continued investment momentum in low-carbon generation as Türkiye works toward climate commitments.

In the operational fleet, Energisa Enerji Üretim maintains market leadership with 1.12 GW of installed capacity. Borusan EnBW Enerji (776 MW), Eksim Enerji (775 MW), Polat Enerji (772 MW) and GÜRİŞ (702 MW) rank as the second through fifth largest operators by installed capacity.

Nordex dominates the installed base, supplying 34% of Türkiye's 16.01 GW of operational wind turbines. Enercon accounts for 24%, General Electric 15%, Vestas 14%, Siemens Gamesa 9% and Goldwind 3%. This market structure suggests limited supplier diversity in the operational turbine fleet.

What's next

As of end-June 2026, 20.998 GW of wind capacity remains in the pre-licensing stage, and a further 17.893 GW of battery-storage paired wind projects are in pipeline or preliminary phase. This future pipeline indicates potential for substantial additional wind deployment beyond current construction activity.
