What happened

Windrogen Enerji has received a project investment incentive certificate for the Arel wind power development planned for Keşan district in Edirne, according to Enerji Günlüğü. Windrogen is a subsidiary of Pasifik Yenilenebilir Enerji, which sits within Pasifik Holding.

The company has also obtained €40 million in investment financing for the development. Arel is designed as a wind and storage project, with 39.9 MWe of installed wind capacity and 39.9 MWh of electricity storage capacity.

Expected annual generation is approximately 160 million kWh. The project will combine electricity production from wind with storage infrastructure at one location.

Engineering, procurement and construction activity has begun, and Windrogen has placed an order for the project’s wind turbines. Pasifik Holding said the financing, incentive certificate and turbine order had moved the scheme into its investment stage.

Why it matters

Arel adds a planned storage element to a new wind generation asset. For developers and electricity-market participants, the project is a further example of a renewable scheme being developed with generation and storage on the same site.

The incentive certificate is intended to allow the project to benefit from the support and advantages available under that certificate. Combined with the reported financing and turbine procurement, it marks progress from development towards delivery.

Pasifik Holding has said it aims to strengthen its renewable-energy activities, increase electricity-generation capacity and add storage capacity through the investment. The group also said it will continue to assess renewable and storage opportunities in Türkiye and abroad.

What to watch next

The immediate milestones are the progress of EPC work and turbine delivery. Neither Windrogen nor Pasifik Holding has published a date for commissioning, so project observers will need to wait for a construction schedule or operational target.

For companies tracking Türkiye’s renewable pipeline, the key disclosed metrics are the 39.9 MWe wind capacity, 39.9 MWh storage capacity and forecast output of about 160 million kWh a year. Further details on the project’s delivery timetable have not been provided.
