What happened
Borusan Group has expanded its animal welfare volunteering activity by bringing Kurtaran Ev into the Borusan Pati Elçileri programme. The initiative is run through the group’s Okyanus Gönüllü Borusanlılar employee volunteer platform and continues its work with Her Eve Bir Pati Derneği, known as HEPAD.
According to EkoIQ, the two-partner network supports rehabilitation, daily care and rehoming processes for 2,300 animals in shelters. Volunteers have attended HEPAD Bahçe and Kurtaran Ev-managed living areas, where they have helped provide food and basic care.
For sustainability and corporate-volunteering teams, the development is a reminder to assess delivery through partner organisations: track where employee time is deployed, the services it supports and the route from temporary care to adoption.
Why it matters
The addition of Kurtaran Ev broadens the delivery network for Borusan’s volunteering programme for unowned and vulnerable animals. Its stated activity combines practical support at facilities with measures aimed at securing more stable living arrangements.
Those measures include support for foster families and adoption calls. The programme also supports HEPAD’s Flight Volunteer Programme, through which animals under the association’s care can be transported to permanent homes outside Türkiye.
The model links employee participation to third-party animal welfare organisations rather than treating volunteering as a standalone awareness activity. The reported scope—2,300 animals across the participating facilities—offers a defined basis for following how care, rehabilitation and adoption support are being delivered.
What to watch
Future updates may clarify how many animals move from shelter care into foster placements or permanent homes, and whether the expanded partner network changes the type or volume of volunteer activity. They could also show how HEPAD’s flight-volunteer arrangements contribute to overseas rehoming.
Companies operating similar programmes can use the arrangement to consider whether their volunteer initiatives have clear partner roles, identifiable care activities and transparent reporting on outcomes beyond volunteer attendance.
