What happened
The Turkish Wind Energy Association (TÜREB) has published an inventory study of Türkiye’s wind-energy manufacturing industry. Around 70% of participating companies said they were planning new investment during the coming three years. Capacity expansion was identified as the leading investment priority.
The study also points to expected growth in jobs. Some 74% of respondents anticipate increasing employment over that period. Among participants, 52% employ between one and 49 people directly in wind-energy activities, while 21% employ 500 to 999 people.
Manufacturing extends beyond core turbine equipment. Towers and their internal systems are the most common production area, alongside blades and related parts, foundation components, generators, power electronics, and electrical and mechanical systems.
Why it matters
Türkiye’s wind-industry supply chain already has links to European markets. Germany, Spain, Portugal and France are among the principal export destinations cited by the study, while China is identified as an important market outside Europe.
For European wind-sector buyers and suppliers, the planned investment and recruitment point to potential expansion in a manufacturing base that supplies a range of turbine components. The findings also show a sector with companies of differing scale: 39% of respondents reported wind-related turnover of TL1 billion or more, while 52% reported less than TL500 million.
Background
About 61% of surveyed companies hold a valid investment incentive certificate. Around 39% have an R&D centre, indicating that product and technology development is present alongside manufacturing activity.
On exports, 74% of participants reported export revenue below TL500 million. The remaining 26% reported export revenue between TL1 billion and TL5 billion.
What's next
Companies that reported planned investment and hiring expect these changes to take place within the next three years. TÜREB’s findings identify higher domestic value creation, technological development and a stronger export structure as areas for the industry’s further development.
