What happened
TEMSA’s Avenue Neo electric bus has been awarded in two categories at the European Product Design Award 2026: Public Transport and Bus. The recognition applies to the manufacturer’s 9-metre battery-electric city bus, which TEMSA introduced in 2025.
According to Enerji Günlüğü, the model was developed by TEMSA Design Studio. TEMSA engineers also undertook the vehicle’s battery packaging, software and development processes.
The award brings design recognition to a bus intended for both urban operations and services connecting major cities with outlying districts. TEMSA says the vehicle carries 75 passengers and combines features associated with a 10.5-metre bus in a smaller body.
Why it matters
For operators assessing electric buses, the reported operating specifications provide the relevant starting point. TEMSA states that Avenue Neo can travel up to 600 km, while a 300 kW DC connection can charge the battery to 100% in 75 minutes.
Those figures are manufacturer-provided and should be considered alongside an operator’s route length, passenger requirements and charging arrangements. The bus’s stated target uses span conventional city routes and links to more remote districts, rather than only short urban circulators.
The design award also highlights elements beyond the electric powertrain. TEMSA says the vehicle was developed around human-centred design, sustainability and digitalisation. Its exterior uses flowing surfaces, distinct lines and simple geometric forms, according to the report.
Design and passenger layout
Inside, the Avenue Neo has been designed with an open layout and clear sightlines. TEMSA identifies accessibility, ease of use and passenger comfort as priorities for the interior, including through its choice of materials.
These features matter in public transport procurement because vehicle design affects both passenger access and the practical use of cabin space. The award does not alter the bus’s stated technical specifications, but it recognises the design approach adopted for the model.
What operators should review
Operators considering the Avenue Neo can compare its stated 75-passenger capacity, up-to-600 km range and 75-minute DC charging time with their own service patterns and depot charging capability. They can also assess whether the compact 9-metre format suits route conditions while providing the capacity required for planned operations.
TEMSA operates under a joint venture between Sabancı Holding and PPF Group.
