What happened

Türkiye’s day-ahead spot market has set a preliminary average clearing price of TL2,833.17/MWh for electricity delivered on 15 October 2026. The figure is based on the arithmetic average for the delivery day.

According to Enerji Günlüğü, citing data from market operator EPİAŞ, prices will vary substantially across the day. The highest scheduled hourly price is TL4,450/MWh, for 17:00–18:00. The low point is TL1,500.01/MWh, for 02:00–03:00.

For the 08:00–20:00 peak period, the preliminary average is TL3,254.92/MWh. Outside those hours, the corresponding average is TL2,411.41/MWh. The peak-period level is therefore above the off-peak figure, reflecting the higher-priced daytime and early-evening intervals in the published schedule.

Why it matters

The delivery-day average is 6.59% below the previous day’s TL3,019.83/MWh. Even with that daily decline, the difference between the scheduled high and low hours remains pronounced: the late-afternoon price is close to three times the overnight minimum.

For energy buyers and sellers with spot-price exposure, the headline daily average does not show the full procurement or consumption profile. Flexible industrial loads, storage operators and companies arranging short-term power purchases can compare their operational timetable with the lower-priced overnight window and the more expensive 17:00–18:00 period.

The distinction between peak and off-peak averages is also relevant for organisations tracking the cost of shifting demand. The gap between TL3,254.92/MWh in peak hours and TL2,411.41/MWh outside them provides a published reference point for the delivery day, rather than a uniform all-day price.

What to watch next

The prices are scheduled to apply on 15 October. The reported daily average is also 2.85% higher than the figure for the equivalent day one week earlier, despite falling from the immediately preceding day.

Market participants should review the final hourly schedule and their expected load profile before delivery, particularly where consumption can be moved away from the 17:00–18:00 interval. The preliminary status of the reported average should be taken into account when comparing it with final market outcomes.
